2. My Learning strategies
Firstly, I read the materials
while the presenters are presenting the materials. I mark out the important
point so it makes me easier to re-read it. Then I made a mark to the ones that I
still confuse and make it a question for the group who are presenting.
3. Synopsis
·
Meeting 1: Journalism is the process of gathering, editing, and
disseminating news, along with related commentary and feature materials,
through print and electronic media like newspapers, magazines, books, blogs,
webcasts, podcasts, social networking and social media sites, as well as radio,
movies, and television.
·
Meeting 2: Every statement can contain personal opinion by using
the verb system of the target language in a specific way.
·
Meeting 3: Simple statements are used in news paragraphs to
deliver information fast. Generally, paragraphs are 1 or 2 two sentences long,
though they can occasionally be as lengthy as three. The 5 W and H (Who, What,
Where, When, Why, and How) questions should be addressed by the story in a
logical order, starting with the material that the reading audience will find
most significant or intriguing.
·
Meeting 4: A technique used in news reporting is news gathering
and interviewing. Journalists conduct interviews with the relevant sources to
gather the data required for news reporting.
·
Meeting 5: Research into the past before creating interview
questions, it's typical to need to do some background research, either on the
subject being covered or the person being interviewed.
·
Meeting 6: A highlight is a piece of writing about an item or an
event that informs, enlightens, entertains, persuades, and stirs readers'
emotions. A feature has similarities to and differences from a news item in
various ways. A feature is fact-based, much like a news piece.
·
Meeting 7: The goal of feature writing is to try and emotionally
engage the audience. It fulfills the dual purposes of entertaining and
enlightening the readers. However, they lack the objectivity of traditional
reporting. A personality profile is prepared to introduce readers to a person
who is either in the news or not.
·
Meeting 9: An illustrator who creates editorial cartoons with some
element of political or social criticism is referred to be an editorial
cartoonist or a political cartoonist. Their cartoons are used to convey and
discuss a topic in national or international current affairs or daily news.
·
Meeting 10: When writing a review of artwork, there are a number
of techniques to take into account. Your readers may receive favorable
comments. Make sure to employ effective writing strategies to pique readers'
attention in your review.
·
Meeting 11: A news photographer's profession involves a lot of
writing photo captions. For individuals who want to master the fundamentals of
creating photo captions, we anticipate a variety of conveniences. The meanings
of photo captions can be very broad.
·
Meeting 12: Since advertising is what pays the bills, it plays a
crucial role in periodicals. Additionally, advertising serves to stimulate the
economy by informing the public about products, services, and other goods and
services. The revenue from the advertising covers the costs of publishing the
newspaper as well as the staff's salary.
·
Meeting 13: If an advertisement can elicit the desired response
from the target audience, influence people, have an impact, and provide
quantifiable outcomes, then it is said to be effective. The efficacy of
advertising must concentrate on a number of factors, such as seeing or hearing
perceptions, feeling emotions, persuasion of beliefs, acting conduct, related
associations, and cognitive thought.
·
Meeting 14: News from the scene is immediately available to
viewers and listeners in their homes thanks to broadcast media. Speaking or
appearing on radio or television is known as broadcasting (to speak or appear
on radio or television). However, broadcasting can also refer to radio and
television broadcasts or broadcast media in other dictionaries.
·
Meeting 15: Gathering, recording, verifying, and reporting on
material of public interest is the practice of journalism. The most important
distinction between journalism and other nonfiction writing genres is the idea
of objectivity. When interviewing sources, investigating current events,
composing their pieces, and reporting on them, journalists are expected to be
objective at all times. They might also create podcasts, photo captions,
documentaries, help run round-the-clock TV broadcasts, and keep the news
readily available online and on social media. The writing style used by news
organizations to compile stories is known as "journalistic writing"
in general. Every news organization has a unique "house" style that
outlines the grammar and style conventions that must be followed while writing
for that publication or website. The five fundamental types of journalism
writing are opinion columns, reviews, feature writing, entertainment writing,
and investigative writing. They all share a few similar qualities and
characteristics.
4. Reflection
After
studying Journalism, it makes me have knowledge about Journalism. By studying
journalism, it makes me as the person who already or should looking for and
curious about what’s happening. No matter what is going on, whether it is a
crime, a financial crisis, a fashion fad, or a rock performance, journalists
need to learn about it and grasp it. They convey this knowledge to an audience
who will care about it through an interesting story.
